Flooded Roads

The climate change is real. The Met reports that the wet season is continuing till mid-April in Malaysia. In the last three months, we really had very heavy rainfall that cost massive flooding in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Kelantan. The rate of rainfall exceeded ten times more than average rainfall. And the affected areas were much bigger. The floods caused millions of dollars of damage to public and private properties.

It is timely for the relevant government agencies to undertake a technical audit of the performance of the existing urban drainage infrastructure. Subsequently, make a plan and take action to be more prepared for bigger and more frequent floods in future.

The climate change has spoken loud and clear.
